The Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday, Oct 24, the family drove a few miles north to a small farm that had a bunch of animals for the kids to pet, wagon rides, and a big pumpkin patch. This is the pumpkin that Daniel wanted.

Daniel isn't so sure about the stranger taking our picture.... smile buddy!!!

They had a maze that they created out of large round hay bales... Daniel was trying to figure out if it would be easier to just climb on top of them so he could see where he was going.
Jen and Daniel went for a little wagon ride. He had a blast.

2 Weeks!

Andrea is 2 weeks old today. We had her Dr. appt this morning and she's growing like a weed. She's already at 6lb, 15oz and 20.5in tall. That's 12oz and 1in more since we left the hospital! She's sleeping pretty well. about 3-5 hrs between feedings around the clock. The shorter spurts seem to be at night, but oh well. She's only 2 weeks old.
Nate, on the other hand, isn't doing the greatest. He ended up with an infection, so he's on antibiotics now. Hopefully that clears up soon. As much as we LOVE seeing pictures of all three of them together hanging out on the couch, we miss our bases-running daddy! Daniel keeps asking him to run the bases. Apparantly, mommy isn't as fast :)

Here are some pics of the last couple days:

Quick Pics

Just wanted to give a quick update on us. Nate is recovering well. He's getting out and walking around a little bit. He gets to spend quality time with Andrea. Here are some rare pics of her awake!
Proud Mommy
Our favorite picture so far :)

Andrea is doing great. She's a very quite girl (so far!) She'll go 4hrs between feedings during the day and about 3hrs at night. It must be the nice warm blankets and body heat from being held that keeps her content longer during the day! She didn't like her first bath at all-but that's how we got her wide awake for the above pictures :)

It's a GIRL!

Labor and delivery went very well. We noticed a little 'leaking' on Sunday and got to the hospital at 4pm. Broke the water at 7:30pm...and got induced at 8:30pm. So, it was pretty quick. Andrea did great during the delivery and is a very healthy little girl. She's eating like a champ, but is still very sleepy! Mom's hoping for a full night of sleep tonight :) We left the hospital at 2 today. (A little before the 48hr rule, but we're all doing so well, we could come home and sleep in our own beds.) Here are some pictures of the event:

Look at all of that hair!
Wait a second...what's this? Is Nate in a hospital gown? He sure is... Andrea has an interesting birth story: At about 9pm Sunday night, (yes-during the delivery) Nate started having bad abdominal cramps. Turns out he needed an appendectomy! He made it through the delivery, but went home to try to sleep it off afterwards. When Monday morning came along, he realized something was not right. Luckily, Mom Q was staying at our house and she brought him back to the hospital to the ER, and after a long wait, he got his appendix removed! So, he was on the 2nd floor of the hospital recovering while Andrea and I were on the 4th floor. It was a big bummer he wasn't able to see Andrea again until today when we got discharged. But, thankfully, we all got to come home today and they have been bonding all night.
Our first picture together!

All snuggled up.
So far, Daniel doesn't seem to mind his little sister. He's happy and content with Grandma Q, mom and dad to talk to/play with. Here's some pics of his time with her:

One Month To Go!

Today at 9am, we passed Daniel's early delivery date/time. A lot of stress has been lifted because we know this baby will be better developed and may not need extra hosptial time...but a lot of stress has showed up because the reality is setting in! We are, of course, hoping that this baby is soo comfortable inside, that it doesn't want to come out until Jen and her dad's bday on the 28th of Oct! Official due date is Oct 21st-4wks, 2 days left!

I'm feeling pretty good. The baby likes to kick me in the ribs-a lot. It is a very active little thing-just like Daniel was. I'm not sure if I can squeeze 2 lbs more of baby in there! Tieing shoes and bending over to pick things up is getting to be a difficult task. I guess I'll just have to stop doing it :) I've officially started the 'waddle' because I'm getting sympathy looks from almost everyone that sees me.
There are some great benefits to being pregnant though. I'm really going to miss having an excuse for ice cream whenever I want it...and the built-in table to put that ice cream on! And, of course the feeling of that little guy/gal squiggling around in there.
Anyway, I've been asked for pics and updates, so here's one! Stayed tuned for more.

Daniel's new game

Our last trip to Target lead us down the game isle... Here's Daniel's new game. He doesn't play it for very long, but Jen's working on it. She can't wait for Family Game Night :) It's called the Animal Scramble.

Como Zoo and Labor Day Weekend

A couple of weekends ago, we went to Como Zoo for the afternoon. Here's a couple pics:
Nate and Daniel when Sparky the Sea Lion came right up to them!
Daniel riding the turtle.

We had a great Labor Day weekend at the cabin! We couldn't have asked for better weather. We went up early on Friday to get things all set up for everyone. Here are some pics from the weekend.

Daniel helping Uncle Timmy mowing the lawn.
Daniel laying on Liz's lawn chair. He said he was 'readin...Like Lizzy does.' (She was doing homework in the sun.)
We set up the pool and Daniel had a blast when Jen threw him in it.
Daniel and Will playing by the pool.
Grandpa and Daniel on the pontoon.
The most exciting news of all...Daniel caught his first fish! He actually caught 2 with his pole. They had great fishing nights on Sat and Sun nights! Here's Daddy and Daniel with the first fish.
Here's a northern Nate got. He was soo close to the cabin when he caught it. (You can even see me in the blue shirt on the back of the pontoon in the pic)
Another good catch from the pro.

Here's a movie of Jen throwing Daniel in the pool. He started throwing her sandals in, so she started throwing him in. He LOVED it! (Look at that belly! Only 6 weeks left!)

There is a small airport by the lake and Great Grandpa kept teasing Daniel that they were motorcycles instead of airplanes. It took a while for Daniel to realize he was kidding, but when he saw Great Grandpa smile as he said 'motorcycle' one time, Daniel just started laughing and told him, "No Big Grandpa...airplane") It was really cute. Thanks for a great weekend everyone!
