Automotive Acrobatics

So Nate dropped Tim and Liz off at the airport this morning a little before 5AM today and on the way home had an interesting adventure. Shortly after getting back on I35W north towards Minneapolis, I hit a patch of black ice. I was driving under the posted speed limit due to the dicey conditions, when suddenly I found myself sliding sideways and began fishtailing down the middle of the interstate. I ended up spinning around and slid backwards into a concrete barrier that was directly adjacent to the right lane of the interstate, and stopped, facing on-coming traffic in the right lane. There were a lot of cars coming, so I couldn't turn around and get out of the way. Many of those cars were swerving and sliding around trying to avoid my truck. I bailed out, jumped over the barrier and ran a few yards up a hill, just in case someone were to slide into me. Fortunately nobody did, however two other cars did bump each other while trying to stop in front of my truck.

I successfully managed to single handedly close down I35W for about 30 seconds while the highway helper stopped traffic so I could turn around. How fun is that!!!

Below are a couple of pics of the damage. Not too bad considering what could have happened had there been other cars next to me, or if someone would have slid into my truck after I stopped spinning. What a fun morning ;)

2 Months

I can't believe Andie is already 2 months old. We're getting a lot of smiles and some cooing. She's still a great baby. At our Dr. appt this morning, we found out we have a mild case of thrush on her tongue-which we'll fix with some fun yellow solution applied to it. Other than that, she's doing great. Here are her stats:
height: 23in- 73%
weight: 10lb 9oz - 41%
head: 40cm - 80%
We'll keep working on the smile shots. I'm sure we'll get one soon!

Cookie Time

On Friday, Daniel and mommy had a great time making gingerbread cookies! This is Jen's favorite activity of the Christmas season. Mommy said Daniel was a great help. He spread flour all over the bread board (and floor), rolled the dough, and used the cookie cutters! Look at the great job they did decorating them!
The best part!

It's December!!

Here's our Christmas Picture! Now I just have to get the cards made...
Last night, Daniel wanted to show me his new trick. Look at this kid-no wonder we're exhausted every night. He sure had a great time watching himself on the camera afterwards!

Family Updates

Since she's now 6wks old, I thought I should update everyone about her! She is still a perfect baby. She rarely cries, we're sooo very lucky. She, for some reason, can go 5-6 hrs without eating during the day, but only 3 at night! But, she knows nighttime is for sleeping, so she lays back down without any issues. Nate got the first smile out on Saturday. I got my first on Monday. I tried to capture it all day yesterday and today so far, but I only got a very blury and not so flattering picture of our sweet little girl! Here are a couple good ones though :)

Daniel is doing great. He is really getting used to having a sister. One day last week I went to pick him up from day care and he started crying that his sister stayed home with daddy. Then, yesterday, he wanted me to leave her with him at school while I went to work! (Of course, we're not telling him I'm just going home :)) He has big news though. We've started potty training. He loves the idea of being a big boy and wearing underwear. He has some Cars ones and some Diego ones from Grammy Quist. He'll go potty when he sits no problems. We almost went all weekend with no accidents. We'll keep it up until after Thanksgiving. But, it seems to be going well. He needs to get the hang of telling us when he has to go though-instead of us reminding him. But, that will come, I'm sure.
Nate is also doing well. He's finally done having to care for his incision site. He's a happy camper now!

Trip to the Fedie Farm

The first Sunday in Nov, we went to the Fedie Farm to sight in the guns for Deer hunting and make sure the stands were ready to go. We also celebrated Dad and My birthdays. It was a great day. The weather was wonderful. We also had to separate 3 cows from the herd. We like to do work when we come home!
Dad FINALLY got to give Daniel a ride in his new tractor that has a seat just for him! He really liked it. John and Amy had to give him a ride too.
Isn't Will a cutie?
